Common Questions for the Orthodontist at the First Consultation (Answered)

Starting orthodontic treatment is a big step, and the first consultation is where most families have the same questions. At Nexus Orthodontics, here are the top three we hear most often — along with clear answers.

1. Do you take insurance?

Yes. We accept most major insurance plans, including:

  • Delta

  • Aetna

  • Cigna

  • Guardian

  • Blue Cross Blue shield

Not sure if you’re covered? Our team is happy to check your benefits and explain exactly what’s included before you begin.

2. When should I bring my child in?

The best age for a first orthodontic check-up is between 7 and 9 years old.
At this stage, we can:

  • Check how your child’s teeth and jaws are developing

  • Spot potential bite or alignment concerns

  • Decide whether early treatment is needed, or if it’s better to wait

3. How long will treatment take?

Most braces or Invisalign treatments take 18 to 24 months on average. Every smile is unique, so we’ll give you a personalized estimate during your consultation.
