Who is orthodontic treatment for?
The truth is, our teeth are almost never perfect. Just like every other part of us, we are human. Orthodontic issues may become a reality for anybody and may not have anything to do with your dental choices. Some common orthodontic issues are genetically linked, are linked to lifestyle choices, birth defects, or other medical conditions.
How do we know if we need orthodontic treatment?
Great question. There are a few common orthodontic issues that folks typically reach out or come to our New Hyde Park offices for. We’ve listed just a few of the common issues that we see. If you don’t see your issue listed here, it doesn’t mean that we can’t help you. Reach out to us to schedule a consultation today and we’ll start your journey towards unlocking your smile — together.
Common Issues We Treat
- Crowding — when there isn’t enough space in the jaw for all teeth to fit properly
- Spacing — gaps between teeth caused by missing teeth, undersized teeth, or jaw size
- Overbite — upper front teeth overlap too far over the lower teeth
- Underbite — lower teeth or jaw protrude in front of the upper teeth
- Crossbite — some upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth instead of outside
- Open bite — upper and lower teeth don’t meet when the mouth is closed
- Overjet (protrusion) — upper teeth protrude significantly forward
- Relapse — teeth shifting back after previous orthodontic treatment
