"Dr. Fung and the whole crew are kind, patient, and professional. It is truly a pleasure to have Dr. Fung as my son's orthodontist. Without a doubt, my daughter will be seeing Dr. Fung in a few years as well."— Jalen
An Orthodontist for Bayside and Little Neck
Braces and Invisalign for families in Bayside, Little Neck, Douglaston, and Oakland Gardens — with Dr. Shauna Fung, a board-certified orthodontist who treats patients in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.
Why Queens families make the trip
Mandarin, Cantonese, and English
Dr. Fung discusses diagnosis, treatment options, and consent in the language your family is most comfortable with — so nobody has to ask a child to translate their own treatment plan.
Care that includes grandparents
Orthodontic decisions in many families are made across three generations. We're glad to explain the plan directly to parents and grandparents so everyone is on the same page.
A board-certified specialist
Dr. Fung completed a full orthodontic residency after dental school and is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics — a voluntary credential requiring finished cases be submitted for peer review.
Just over the Queens–Nassau line
Our office sits on Hillside Avenue in New Hyde Park, close to the Queens border — convenient for families in Bayside, Little Neck, Douglaston, and Oakland Gardens.

Worth crossing into Nassau?
It's a fair question, and the honest answer depends on what you're looking for. If you want a general dentist who also does some aligner work, there are plenty closer to home. If you want a specialist — someone who did the additional residency after dental school and is board-certified — the field narrows considerably, and the county line stops being the deciding factor.
A specialist, not a generalist
Any licensed dentist may legally offer orthodontic treatment. An orthodontist has completed two to three additional years of accredited residency devoted entirely to moving teeth and guiding jaw development. Board certification goes a step beyond that — it's voluntary, and it requires submitting completed cases for review by other orthodontists. Our article on what board certification actually means explains the difference in more detail.
Traditional braces, done properly
A lot of Queens families searching for us are specifically after traditional braces rather than aligners — often for a teenager, often because the case is too complex for trays or because nobody wants to police 22 hours of daily wear. That's a completely reasonable choice, and braces remain the most predictable tool we have. We offer them in metal, clear ceramic, and gold Iconix.
Practicalities
Our office is on Hillside Avenue, which runs straight through from Queens — the same road, no complicated route. Appointments during active treatment are typically every six to eight weeks rather than weekly, so the trip is far less frequent than people assume when they first weigh it up. We also see families from Douglaston, Oakland Gardens, and College Point.
